When my mind is in turmoil, I always want to go outside for a walk and see the world. I love clear blue skies and waters, and places that bring peace to my soul. We are always entangled by all sorts of things and people in this world. Many times, even knowing that life can't be all smooth sailing, the more we think this way, the more stubborn we become. The reason we can't let go is because we pursue too much. Life is a constant pursuit, and in that pursuit, we always want too much. When it becomes unattainable, we become self-inflicted troubles. A whole host of worries and anxieties spill from our mouths. Knowing that many things can't be achieved, we stubbornly insist on getting them.
Some people appear in our lives, and we always try to impose our own views on them. Once we discover that someone is too different from us, we can't tolerate their behavior. So, we keep asking ourselves, "How could that person be like this?" or "How could that person be like that?" Thinking and thinking, we become unhappy. After a long, quiet reflection, when we think back, we find it all so laughable. Those people are merely passersby in our lives, a different scene along our journey. We can simply ignore the things that make us unhappy and not judge them. Perhaps that would make us more carefree.
Living uncomfortably stems from worrying too much. Often, we exaggerate trivial matters, complicating simple things. Overthinking and worrying about everything affects our mood and disturbs our peace of mind.
Everyone talks about learning to let go and facing everything with equanimity, but not everyone can actually do it. Let's start with life itself. Let everything take its natural course, simplifying complex matters. Just as ten fingers are of different lengths, so too is the world of suffering. There is imperfection, separation and reunion, birth and death, happiness and suffering… A touch of imperfection makes it more real. When
my heart remains steadfast amidst all the turmoil, I think that's when I truly understand the world of suffering.
