Tomorrow will be better

July 16th was the scheduled date for the sports meet at Shangrong Primary School. The members of the "Sailing" social practice team, who were on a rural outreach program, had planned the events and prepared the necessary supplies well in advance. Students had also begun practicing their chosen events.
However, the weather turned against them. In the early hours of the 16th, a category 8 typhoon disrupted everyone's plans, forcing the sports meet to be postponed and resulting in a holiday. Because of the storm, the uncle who usually delivered vegetables to the "Sailing" team members couldn't come. But this didn't deter the team members from their daily struggle to make food; they cleverly used leftover sweet potatoes from the previous day to make a sweet soup. The team leader had a sudden inspiration to make pancakes with flour, and everyone pitched in. Although classes were cancelled, many students returned to school to play with the team. Seeing everyone making pancakes, they eagerly joined in, clumsily making them with their small hands. Some students, seeing the water puddles on the path everyone had to take, spontaneously picked up brooms and started sweeping. The scene was especially heartwarming because of everyone's participation, even in the heavy rain and strong winds.
Thankfully, the rain stopped around 2 or 3 pm, and the sun shone again. Looking at the sun-drenched ground and those smiling faces, I felt a warm sense that tomorrow would be even better.
